How Can severe Upper Back Pain Be Treated?

For the past few weeks I have had pain in my upper back. It seems to be the worst when I am getting up from a laying down position. there is a terrible tightness in the upper back area just below my shoulder blades. It is on both sides and almost takes my breath away.

Hi i am Dr Ahmed Aly
thanks for using HealthcareMagic site ,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns ..

In my opinion i think it is a muscular sprain usually due to heavy lifting , over exertion , cold weather , bad sleeping or sitting postures .try to have rest and relax your back muscles and minimal stretching or straightening exercises will be helpful .
You may take painkillers like advil tabs when needed , hot gentle massaging with topical anti-inflammatory , muscle relaxants , back patches will be effective in most of cases .
If pain persists i recommend you visit your physician for proper evaluation and management .
